What is Sound Art?

small quantity of sand is sprinkled onto the flexible membrane at the top of the eidophone apparatus and then a vowel sound is sung into the end of the tube.

The human voice is carried through the tube and into a conical brass vessel with the membrane tensioned at the top.

Depending on the kind of sound which is sung and the pitch of this sound, various patterns are produced with the sand on the membrane. You sing and see a pattern forming! With some practice, you can sing a simple song while watching a continuously transforming range of patterns being produced!
